Patriot Brief

  • What Happened: Gas prices dropped below $3 nationally for the first time in 4.5 years, with 20 states under $2.75.

  • Why It Matters: Officials say the drop reflects a return to America-First energy policy focused on affordability and production.

  • Bottom Line: Even CNN had to admit it — Americans are finally getting real relief at the pump under Trump’s energy leadership.

CNN had to choke down a rare serving of reality this week, admitting what Americans have already noticed: gas prices have finally slipped below $3 a gallon nationwide for the first time in more than four years.

According to AAA, the national average hit $2.99 on Monday, with twenty states already sitting below $2.75. CNN — after years of excuse-making during the Biden era — was forced to acknowledge the drop.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright joined FOX Business’ “Kudlow,” making it clear this isn’t luck or coincidence. It’s policy.

“Nothing’s better than saving money,” Wright said. “Every week you fill up your gas tank, you got more money in your pocket… This is what happens when the American public elects a president who cares about their pocketbook.”

Wright didn’t hold back, calling out the climate-activist-driven energy agenda that dominated under Biden.

“Imagine if Kamala Harris had won the election,” Wright said. “Where would gasoline prices be today? Those are political choices… not unfortunate facts.”

Gas is now dropping fast nationwide, with some states in the mid-$2.40s. Meanwhile, high-regulation states like California, Washington, and Oregon remain stuck with sky-high prices — a reminder that policy always matters.

President Trump said even lower prices are on the horizon.

“We’re gonna be… at $2 a gallon. We could even crack that,” he told reporters Tuesday. He noted that refilling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve — which the Biden administration drained to historic lows — creates short-term upward pressure, but long-term stability.

“We’re seeing more development,” Wright added, pointing to an increase of nearly a million barrels per day in U.S. production compared to a year ago. “Common sense is back in town.”

Americans can feel the shift — and the media has no choice but to report what’s happening: energy strength is back, and so are lower prices.
